Dexion beams - What Do C35 and C45 Mean in the Codes?

One of the great advantages of pallet racking manufacturer Dexion is that they print/stamp the product codes on the parts

This makes it much easier to determine which type of Dexion beam you have in your warehouse, which makes your warehouse safer and reordering easier.

Particularly on galvanized beams, this code can easily be found on the underside of the beam.

Structure of the code on Dexion beams

A code on a Dexion beam often looks like the one below

So here it reads "100140025 P90BAC34 BX60/40/13 2700 ETC"

In order, this is:

  • 100140025: The article code of the beam in question
  • P90: The product series
  • BA: This concerns a beam
  • C34: The designation of the type of hook or connector mounted on the left and right of the beam
  • BX 60/40/13: this concerns a (box) beam with a height of 60 mm, a thickness of 40 mm and a material thickness of 1.3 mm
  • 2700: the length of the beam

All the information necessary to reorder the correct Dexion beam is therefore present in the code

Why is the connector type designation (Cxx) important?

Every beam has a connector with which the beam is hooked into the frame.

That connector comes in different versions. Dexion designates the connector type with a C

  • The first digit after the C indicates which frames the beam is suitable for:
    • If this is a '3', the beam is suitable for Dexion frames with a material thickness up to 2.5 mm
    • If this is a '4', the beam is suitable for Dexion frames with a material thickness above 2.5 mm
  • The second digit after the C indicates the number of hooks the connector has
    • If this is a '4', the connector has 4 hooks and is suitable for beams up to 100 mm high
    • If this is a '5', the connector has 5 hooks and is suitable for beams higher than 100 mm

 

Four different connectors

Dexion therefore has 4 different connectors:

  • C34 for beams <100 mm high and frames with material thickness <2.5 mm
  • C35 for beams >100 mm high and frames with material thickness <2.5 mm
  • C44 for beams <100 mm high and frames with material thickness >2.5 mm
  • C45 for beams >100 mm high and frames with material thickness >2.5 mm

A C34 or C35 connector is not made for frame thicknesses >2.5 mm. You will therefore not get it into the frame, or only with great difficulty, if you have the wrong frame

Conversely, a C45 is not made for frame thicknesses <2.5 mm. Play will occur between the hooks and the frame.
